This private walking tour starts by taking public transportation to get to Cerro Artillería to see a panoramic view of the city from 21 de Mayo lookout. On the way we will be able to see the coast and the houses designed and built by the prolific Chilean architect Esteban O. Harrington.
At 21 de Mayo promenade you will have time, if you wish, to purchase crafts and souvenirs from local artisans.
Later, we will walk down to “el plan” (the way we call the flat part of the city), passing by the port district; the former barrio chino (something like the red-light district), La Matriz church and Plaza Echaurren, which are the heart of the port city.
In this walking tour we also cover the best of the tourist district of Cerros Alegre and Concepción, known for their interesting architecture, their rich history related to immigrants and street art all over the place.
If we are lucky, we will take a funicular (sometimes they are closed due to maintenance service) to get to Paseo Yugoeslavo, and from this lookout we will walk down the labyrinth of streets, alleyways, and staircases to see the murals that give so much colour to the city and make it look so picturesque and artistic.
